Melanosomes are intracellular organelles involved in the synthesis and storage of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin, hair and eye color. They mature through four successive stages, characterised by different morphology and pigmentation levels. In this thesis, we studied the effects of UV radiation on melanosome biogenesis by analysing transmission electron microscope (TEM) images with the Fiji software. We determined the correlation between radiation intensity and maturation stage based on the collected data.
