This work focused on the analysis of the Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) applied to wind energy systems. The study was carried out starting from a wind-farm model in Simulink, which was modified to evaluate the behaviour of turbines equipped with generators of different ratings. The analysis addressed both the theoretical and circuital aspects of the DFIG, as well as its practical performance under various operating conditions, highlighting operating limits and possible control strategies. The investigation was then extended to potential installation sites in Italy, through the study of the Weibull distribution of wind speed, and complemented by an economic assessment of costs and payback times. The main objective was to identify the most advantageous configuration from both a technical and economic perspective, in order to achieve reliable and sustainable results in the long term.

The investigation was then extended to potential installation sites in Italy, through the study of the Weibull distribution of wind speed, and complemented by an economic assessment of costs and payback times.
