Hate crimes represent a category of offenses characterized by a specific discriminatory motive, in which the victim is targeted not only as an individual, but as a member of a particular social, ethnic, religious, sexual, or cultural group. After outlining the concept and the main types of hate crimes, the thesis focuses on the legislative and jurisprudential developments, with particular attention to the Italian and European contexts.
Gli hate crimes rappresentano una categoria di reati caratterizzati da una particolare matrice discriminatoria, in cui la vittima viene colpita non solo in quanto individuo, ma in quanto appartenente a un determinato gruppo sociale, etnico, religioso, sessuale o culturale. Dopo aver delineato il concetto e le principali tipologie di reati d’odio, l’elaborato si concentra sull’evoluzione normativa e giurisprudenziale, soffermandosi in particolare sul contesto italiano ed europeo .
