This thesis examines the concept of flexicurity and its impact on unemployment in Italy and Denmark. The objective is to understand how labour policies in the two countries influence employment levels. The thesis is developed through a theoretical analysis and a comparison between the two national contexts. It is structured into four chapters: the first presents the theory of flexicurity; the second analyzes the Italian situation; the third offers a deeper analysis of the Danish case; and the fourth compares the two models. The study highlights the effectiveness of the Danish model in ensuring greater contractual flexibility, solid social protection, and active labour market policies. This approach has enabled Denmark to maintain low unemployment rates and foster labor market mobility. In contrast, the Italian model is marked by greater rigidity and less efficient social protection mechanisms, resulting in less favorable outcomes for employability. The conclusions suggest that adapting the Italian model to some elements of the Danish flexicurity system could help improve labour market efficiency and reduce unemployment in Italy.

This thesis examines the concept of flexicurity and its impact on unemployment in Italy and Denmark. The objective is to understand how labour policies in the two countries influence employment levels. The thesis is developed through a theoretical analysis and a comparison between the two national contexts.
