This experimental thesis investigates the relationship between rule compliance and moral development. In particular, it highlights how adherence to rules constitutes a fundamental prerequisite for the survival of our society and how it depends on individuals’ moral dimension. The latter represents a compass for human beings, guiding their behavior toward universally recognized principles of equity, justice and well-being. In a society where it is increasingly difficult to ensure rule compliance by adults and children, believing in the potential of education, this research aims to analyze the role of the teacher in promoting students’ motivation to respect rules. Therefore, after outlining the development of moral reasoning from early childhood, its key components and the influencing factors, this thesis confirms the connection between moral development and rule compliance, focusing on the impact of the teacher’s educational action. In fact, through an experimental project in a preschool setting, characterized by meetings based on the activation of the cognitive and affective components of moral development through the technique of circle time, it was observed that the children showed increased motivation to follow rules and a deeper understanding of moral emotions. The statistical analysis of the responses collected through a semi-structured interview, conducted at the beginning and at the end of the program, both in the experimental and control groups, led to the conclusion that preschool teachers, by supporting the moral development of their students, can help them adopt an appropriate behavior towards social norms.

Abstract
The statistical analysis of the responses collected through a semi-structured interview, conducted at the beginning and at the end of the program, both in the experimental and control groups, led to the conclusion that preschool teachers, by supporting the moral development of their students, can help them adopt an appropriate behavior towards social norms.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
