This bachelor’s thesis, entitled "Raising Readers: The Importance of Shared Reading for Children. A Systematic Literature Review," aims to systematically explore the educational value of shared book reading in childhood. The objective is to understand how this practice contributes to linguistic, cognitive, emotional, and social development. The study is based on a systematic review of the scientific literature, using the Scopus database and the PRISMA model. The research focused on the impact of read-aloud practices in preschool age, analyzing 9 relevant articles selected from an initial broader search. The results highlight that shared reading is a powerful educational tool, influenced by theories such as Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development, Bruner’s scaffolding, and Theory of Mind (ToM). The findings show that this practice fosters empathic and relational skills and can help reduce educational inequalities, particularly in disadvantaged contexts. The importance of the child’s active involvement and the quality of adult-child interaction is emphasized as key to maximizing these benefits.
