This thesis analyzes the increasing importance of sustainability inside the structure and strategy of a company, highlighting how companies can integrate sustainable practices into their operations. The research is centered on an internship experience performed in a company in the energy sector in Verona called AGSM AIM, which is mainly responsible of the energy distribution in Verona and Vicenza, where I took part in a project aimed at improving the sustainability of the supply chain. The project focused on integrating ESG criteria in the suppliers selection to evaluate their sustainability performance to enhance the entire supply chain. Additionally, the study examines the role of enabling technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, IoT, and digital twins in enhancing the environmental performance. The results provide insight into sustainable supply chain performances and offer guidelines for improving long-term sustainability in the energy sector.
