This thesis explores the delicate balance between risks and opportunities in the narration of eating and nutritional disorders (ENDs) on TikTok. It analyzes how the platform influences the digital narratives of individuals who are experiencing or have experienced these conditions. Starting with a theoretical framework that addresses the concepts of identity, body image, and online storytelling, the study delves into the role of social media, and TikTok in particular, in self-construction and its ambivalent relationship with ENDs. On one hand, it can serve as a potential space for support and awareness; on the other, it can be a vehicle for content that carries a risk of emulation. The research adopts a qualitative approach and focuses on the analysis of three case studies: an influencer's profile (Irene Foramiglio), a personal profile (Maya Puravida), and an institutional profile (Centro Lilac). The analysis considers language, aesthetic choices, modes of interaction with users, and message construction, highlighting the differences between individual and professional approaches. The results demonstrate how content related to ENDs on TikTok navigates a fine line between therapeutic narration and sensationalism. They also show how the communicative responsibility of creators and users plays a key role in the perception and reception of the message. Finally, the thesis highlights the necessity of conscious communication strategies that leverage the platform's educational potential while reducing the risks associated with viewer vulnerability.

Abstract
Finally, the thesis highlights the necessity of conscious communication strategies that leverage the platform's educational potential while reducing the risks associated with viewer vulnerability.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
