In an era characterized by the increasing digitalization of social relations, social media are configured as spaces for meeting and interaction between individuals belonging to different social groups. This paper explores the role of these digital platforms and their impact on reducing prejudice. The first chapter is dedicated to the theory of intergroup contact, analyzing its theoretical development, the types of interaction and the effects on social attitudes and behaviors. The second chapter analyzes social media as digital contexts of contact between groups, focusing on the forms of interaction and the mechanisms that can contribute to the reduction of prejudice. The empirical research, conducted through an online questionnaire administered to Italian users, investigates how online experiences, both positive and negative, influence the perception of the Other and relational dynamics. The results obtained contribute to a greater understanding of online intergroup contact.

Abstract
The results obtained contribute to a greater understanding of online intergroup contact.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
