The thesis presents a comparison between the use of photography in “Nosferatu” by Robert Eggers and in the works of photographer Diane Arbus, analyzing how both portray the figure of the “other.” The study is divided into three chapters: the first addresses the theme of alterity and emotional reception in both cases; the second explores technical and visual aspects such as composition, lighting, and framing; the third examines the historical and cultural contexts in which the two visual languages are embedded. The aim is to highlight how photography and cinematography, in different yet interconnected fields, can offer contrasting visions of marginalization.
