Il Maestro dei Mesi di Ferrara e l’Adorazione dei Magi di Venezia: un esempio protogotico nella scultura dell’Italia settentrionale.

This study examines the figure of the Master of the Months of Ferrara, with particular focus on the Adoration of the Magi that is now in Venice at the Diocesan Museum. The first part of the study is dedicated to the reconstruction and articulation of the artistic path of the Master, maintaining as a guiding thread of the analysis the works attributed to him and stylistic considerations on the basis of comparisons with the artistic environment of the Master in Northern Italy and beyond, also reconstructing, the different locations of the work from the alleged Porta da Mar to the Diocesan Museum. The second section of the study proposes an analysis of the Adoration of the Magi in Venice, also giving back an original spatial context, compared with the Adoration present in the lunette of the Abbey of San Mercuriale in Forlì.

Questo studio prende in esame la figura del Maestro dei Mesi di Ferrara, con particolare focus sull’Adorazione dei Magi che oggi si trova a Venezia presso il Museo Diocesano. La prima parte dello studio è dedicata alla ricostruzione e allo snodo del percorso artistico del Maestro, mantenendo come filo conduttore dell’analisi le opere a lui attribuite e le considerazioni stilistiche sulla base di confronti con l’ambiente artistico del Maestro nell’Italia Settentrionale e non solo, ricostruendo, inoltre, le diverse collocazioni dell’opera dalla presunta Porta da Mar fino al Museo Diocesano. La seconda sezione dello studio propone l’analisi dell’Adorazione dei Magi di Venezia, restituendone anche un contesto spaziale originario, posta a confronto con l’Adorazione presente nella lunetta dell’Abbazia di San Mercuriale a Forlì.
