Shakespeare per l'infanzia. Gli adattamenti narrativi di Charles e Mary Lamb

The thesis will address the topic of narrative adaptations of classic for children's audience, using as a case study the collection Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. The first chapter will examine the concept of adaptation, exploring its various forms and how adaptations are conceived and developed according to the intentions of the adaptor and the expectations of the target audience. The second chapter will focus on the field of children's literature, with particular attention to narrative adaptations of classic works for young readers. It will highlight the aims, methodologies, and challenges inherent in the adaptation process. The third chapter will be devoted to an analysis of the collection Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb, examining the objectives, adaptation strategies, and the contribution of the two authors in turning the workinto a classic of children's literature.

La tesi tratterà il tema degli adattamenti narrativi dei classici, indirizzati ad un pubblico infantile, portando come esempio la raccolta "Tales from Shakespeare" di Charles and Mary Lamb. Si occuperà di vagliare, nel primo capitolo, l'argomento degli adattamenti: le loro diverse forme, come vengono pensati ed elaborati in base alle intenzioni di chi adatta e alle aspettative del pubblico destinatario. Il secondo capitolo approfondirà, nel campo della letteratura per l'infanzia, gli adattamenti narrativi dei classici per un pubblico infantile. Mettendo in luce le intenzioni, le metodologie e le criticità del processo di adattamento. Il terzo capitolo sarà dedicato all’analisi della raccolta "Tales from Shakespeare" di Charles e Mary Lamb, approfondendo gli obiettivi, le strategie di adattamento e il contributo dei due autori nel trasformare l’opera stessa in un classico della letteratura per l'infanzia
