Les défis du langage poétique de Baudelaire. Analyse comparative de quelques traductions des Tableaux parisiens: «Les Aveugles » et « La servante au grand cœur...»

This thesis explores the challenges of translating poetic language through a comparative study of selected versions of two poems from the "Tableaux parisiens" by Charles Baudelaire: "Les Aveugles" and "La Servante au grand cœur dont vous étiez jalouse". The aim is to highlight how translators approach the complexity of poetic language and how their presence and choices shape the final text. After a brief introduction to the "Tableaux parisiens" section of "Les Fleurs du Mal", the study focuses on the intricacies of poetic language, translation processes, and the different strategies adopted by translators. This is followed by a comparative analysis of translations of "Les Aveugles" and "La Servante au grand cœur...", with the goal of showing the diverse perspectives adopted by specialists with different fields of experience. In particular, the works of Mario Richter, Claudio Rendina, and Giorgio Caproni are examined. The analysis considers formal elements such as rhythm, meter, rhetorical figures, and sound patterns in both the original poems and the translated versions. The thesis demonstrates how each translation sacrifices or preserves certain aspects of the original text, be it meaning, form, or musicality, and how these decisions reflect a balance between fidelity and creativity. This research contributes to the theoretical debate on translation as an artistic act and on poetry as a literary and cultural genre.

Questa tesi illustra le sfide della traduzione del linguaggio poetico attraverso un confronto tra versioni selezionate di due poesie tratte dai "Tableaux parisiens" di Charles Baudelaire: "Les Aveugles" e "La Servante au grand cœur dont vous étiez jalouse". L’obiettivo è evidenziare come i traduttori affrontino la complessità del linguaggio poetico e quale sia il loro impatto all’interno del testo. Dopo una breve introduzione della raccolta "Tableaux parisiens" de "Les Fleurs du Mal", lo studio si concentrerà sulla complessità del linguaggio poetico, sui processi di traduzione e i differenti approcci. Si proseguirà poi con un’analisi comparativa di traduzioni delle poesie "Les Aveugles" e "La Servante au grand cœur…", con l’obiettivo di mostrare le differenti prospettive adattate da studiosi con campi di esperienza diversi. In particolare, osserveremo i lavori di Mario Richter, Claudio Rendina e Giorgio Caproni. L’analisi prende in considerazione elementi formali come il ritmo, la metrica, le figure retoriche e la sonorità del testo originario e delle versioni tradotte. La tesi mostra in che modo ogni versione sacrifichi o conservi certi aspetti del testo originale, come contenuto, forma o musicalità, e come tali scelte riflettano un equilibrio tra fedeltà e creatività. Il lavoro si inserisce nel dibattito teorico sulla traduzione come atto artistico e sulla poesia come genere letterario e culturale.
