Abstract
At the courts of Champagne and Flanders, between 1160 and 1190, the figure of the French poet and writer Chrétien de Troyes stands out. By reading the novels that have come down to us today, an excellent testimony to the synthesis and renewal of the Arthurian literature, it emerges how the forest, in its descriptive and characterizing components, is an essential and structuring element to the narrative: a privileged place of adventure and a powerful initiatory tool for the protagonist. A careful research, analysis and interpretation of the symbolic elements confirm how the wandering in the forest, the wilderness of the character, the darkness of the setting, the trials’ difficulties and the presence of mystery give it not only a scenic value, but make it a fundamental guide for the protagonist’s development.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
