This thesis explores the Inquisition not only as a religious institution, but also as a tool of control and power, often used far beyond its stated purpose. At the heart of the work is the figure of Giordano Bruno, a provocative and visionary thinker, whose story allows us to examine how far freedom of thought could be seen as an unacceptable threat to the established order. The Bruno case thus becomes a symbol—not only of the abuse of inquisitorial power, but also of the price paid by those who dared to think beyond imposed boundaries. With this work, I sought to reflect on how the Inquisition, though born with religious aims, was often bent to serve earthly interests.

Abstract
This thesis explores the Inquisition not only as a religious institution, but also as a tool of control and power, often used far beyond its stated purpose. At the heart of the work is the figure of Giordano Bruno, a provocative and visionary thinker, whose story allows us to examine how far freedom of thought could be seen as an unacceptable threat to the established order. The Bruno case thus becomes a symbol—not only of the abuse of inquisitorial power, but also of the price paid by those who dared to think beyond imposed boundaries. With this work, I sought to reflect on how the Inquisition, though born with religious aims, was often bent to serve earthly interests.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
