Starting from its mysterious origins, linked to a distant past and to the native folklore of the places where the events take place, the Arthurian Cycle has been a source of inspiration for many people for centuries. The themes of war and love, the humanity of the characters at the crossroads of vice and virtue and the elements linked to magic and the Otherworld have influenced writers and artists belonging to increasingly different eras in shaping works inspired and derived from these legendary stories. Every field, from arts to cinema, through television and video games, is in some way a bearer of the Arthurian soul, but among the various adaptations made over the centuries, the television series "Merlin" represents one of the most innovative and particular versions of the Cycle: this series will be examined to demonstrate how, by getting closer or not to the original source, it is able to give it new life and character. Characters and events between legend and television will not be the only protagonists of this thesis: at its heart will be the relationship between Merlin and Arthur, two sides of the same coin bound by a shared destiny.

Abstract
Characters and events between legend and television will not be the only protagonists of this thesis: at its heart will be the relationship between Merlin and Arthur, two sides of the same coin bound by a shared destiny.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
