The thesis analyzes the 2008 global economic crisis, with a particular focus on the case of Spain. After an overview of the major financial crises of the twentieth century — from the Great Depression of 1929 to the Asian crisis of 1997 — the Spanish economic context prior to the collapse is outlined. The work then delves into the internal dynamics that made the Spanish economy vulnerable to the crisis, with particular attention to the credit sector and government interventions, including European bailout plans. The final section examines the policies adopted to address the crisis, their effects on governance and politics, as well as the corruption phenomena that emerged during the period. The thesis concludes with a comparison between the 2008 crisis and the one triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately offering some reflections on Spain’s economic future.

Abstract
The thesis concludes with a comparison between the 2008 crisis and the one triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, ultimately offering some reflections on Spain’s economic future.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
