The purpose of the present thesis was to investigate math anxiety, in its trait and state components, in a sample of adolescents with Specific Learning Disorder, aged 10 to 18 years, comparing them with undiagnosed peers, matched for age, gender and IQ. The scientific literature has predominantly investigated math anxiety in its trait dimension through the use of self-report questionnaires, partly neglecting the analysis of state aspects and psychophysiological responses, which are more closely related to the lived experience in real time. Therefore, in addition to the assessment of trait aspects, the state components of math anxiety and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) during the performance of a computerized mental calculation task administered under different experimental conditions were analysed. Similarities and differences found between participants with a diagnosis of Specific Learning Disorder and those without a diagnosis in relation to the variables investigated will be presented, highlighting the potential clinical and educational implications of the results obtained.

Abstract
The purpose of the present thesis was to investigate math anxiety, in its trait and state components, in a sample of adolescents with Specific Learning Disorder, aged 10 to 18 years, comparing them with undiagnosed peers, matched for age, gender and IQ. Therefore, in addition to the assessment of trait aspects, the state components of math anxiety and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) during the performance of a computerized mental calculation task administered under different experimental conditions were analysed. Similarities and differences found between participants with a diagnosis of Specific Learning Disorder and those without a diagnosis in relation to the variables investigated will be presented, highlighting the potential clinical and educational implications of the results obtained.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
