Abstract Breastfeeding is a complex process that combines biological, psychological, and relational aspects, significantly impacting the health of the mother, the newborn, and the family. This thesis conducted a literature review that explored the role that paternal involvement can have on the initiation and duration of breastfeeding, a critical period for a woman's well-being. Through targeted communication and educational strategies, midwives facilitate not only support for the mother but also the development of shared parenting, which positively impacts overall family well-being. To explore this aspect, a questionnaire was developed and administered to new fathers to explore their perceptions, experiences, and information needs regarding breastfeeding and their role in providing support. The results, analyzed in the final chapter, highlighted a growing awareness of the importance of their contribution, while also highlighting the need for more structured support from healthcare professionals. This research therefore highlights the importance of an integrated approach to breastfeeding, which recognizes and values the centrality of the triad and the educational role of the midwife, promoting the construction of a shared path of care and support.
