This thesis investigates the topic of early hearing loss screening through the analysis of a clinical case. The initial section presents the key aspects and classifications of hearing impairments, supported by descriptive and graphical representations to provide a comprehensive understanding of the case under study. Subsequently, the diagnostic tools employed in screening are discussed, with particular emphasis on their role in the timely detection of hearing loss. The fourth chapter focuses on the clinical case of M.M., introduced through a detailed reconstruction of their history from birth to the present. The analysis encompasses not only the audiological profile but also psychological, educational, and familial dimensions. Particular attention is given to the consequences of delayed diagnosis, which have had a significant impact on both the rehabilitation process and the patient’s learning. The case was examined through a review of medical assessments conducted over the years, complemented by direct interviews with the patient and her mother. The analysis reveals challenges associated with diagnostic delays, while also identifying potential strategies for improvement in clinical and educational contexts. The findings underscore the critical importance of early screening in ensuring timely and effective interventions, ultimately contributing to the reduction of hearing loss impact on the patient’s quality of life and overall development.
