The thesis analyzes the contribution of Christianity to the development of Western civilization, taking Rodney Stark’s interpretation as a primary reference. The objective is to investigate how Christian ethics, institutions, and worldview fostered social, cultural, and economic processes that shaped the West, distinguishing it from other civilizations. Through the study of Stark’s works and of other supportive and critical authors, the research reconstructs the historiographical debate on the relationship between religion and modernity. The analysis highlights the role of Christianity in the spread of literacy, the affirmation of scientific rationality, and the rise of university and economic institutions. The conclusion emphasizes that, despite its limits and contradictions, Christianity played a decisive role in the formation of the social and cultural structures that characterize contemporary Western society.

The conclusion emphasizes that, despite its limits and contradictions, Christianity played a decisive role in the formation of the social and cultural structures that characterize contemporary Western society.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
