This thesis analyzes the phenomenon of the outward mobility of young talents, commonly referred to as the "brain drain". After addressing its origins, historical development, and current meaning, the focus shifts to the main economic, social and political factors that drive young people to leave Italy. Particular attention is given to the Italian case, with an analysis based on recent data and an examination of the socio-economic consequences for the country. The conclusion offers a reflection on the strategies and policies implemented and those that could be adopted and models aimed at enhancing and retaining young professionals.
Questo lavoro analizza il fenomeno della mobilità in uscita dei giovani talenti, che spesso viene identificato come "fuga di cervelli". Dopo averne affrontato le origini, l'evoluzione storica e il significato attuale, il focus si sposta sulle principali cause economiche, sociali e politiche che spingono i giovani a lasciare l'Italia. L'attenzione sarà posta sul caso italiano, basando l'analisi su dati recenti ed esaminando le conseguenze socio-economiche per il Paese. In conclusione ci sarà un approfondimento e riflessione sulle strategie e politiche attuate e attuabili per contrastare il fenomeno, alla luce di esempi e modelli internazionali orientati alla valorizzazione e al trattenimento dei giovani.
