The thesis aims to analyze in detail the Yugoslav wars, and in particular the period between the outbreak of the war in Slovenia and the conclusion of the Dayton agreements (1991-1995). The focus of the analysis rests on new documents, the UNPROFOR Intelligence Reports. The emphasis will be placed, in particular, on the process of gradual internationalization of the wars: they arise as conflicts of an internal nature, then witness the participation of "regional" actors, in particular the European Community, until they are "internationalized", through the active participation of the United Nations and the deployment of a peacekeeping force, UNPROFOR. The last phase concludes with the active participation of the United States and various international actors, on a unilateral basis.
