This thesis analyzed the reality of the Parkinson’s Relief Centers (Centri Sollievo Parkinson) of AULSS 2 Marca Trevigiana, which are dedicated to supporting individuals with Parkinson’s Disease (PD). The aim of the study was to determine whether the role of the occupational therapist could provide a meaningful contribution in supporting and training volunteers. The PEOP Model (Person-Environment-Occupation-Performance Model) was used to analyze the context in a client-centered and top-down manner, and to highlight how performance results from the interaction between the person, the environment, and the occupation. This model formed the basis of the observation conducted with the purpose of training volunteers at the Relief Centers. Following the analysis and the administration of a questionnaire, it emerged that an intervention would be feasible, aimed at educating volunteers about the disease and how to manage it. The observed changes in volunteer performance supported the conclusion that the occupational therapist could offer a valuable contribution to these centers for the benefit of all who attend them.
