This thesis proposes an exploration of the meaning and implications of the management of the body in nursing practice, understood as "the last gesture of care". The work focuses in particular on the experience of the Casa Antica Fonte Hospice in Vittorio Veneto. Through a qualitative approach, based on a case history, it is analyzed how this gesture combines technical, ethical and human elements, contributing to the protection of the dignity of the deceased person by offering emotional support to family members in the delicate moment of the end of life. The paper stems from the direct experience gained by the author during the curricular internship carried out at the Hospice, as well as from the professional activity of the thynatoesthete, integrated with a review of the scientific and regulatory literature. The thesis highlights the crucial role of the nurse in post-mortem accompaniment, bringing out the relational, deontological and cultural dimensions that make this gesture not only a technical act, but also deeply human. 30 sources were included in this review, including scientific literature, historical theses, regulatory references and institutional documentation. The databases used were PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, and official repertoires (such as the Official Gazette and documents from the Veneto Region). The inclusion criteria have privileged articles and documents that deal with post-mortem nursing practices, palliative care, anthropology of death and Italian legislation. From their analysis, three main macro-themes emerged such as: the symbolic and relational significance of the last gesture of care; the importance of regulatory and procedural standardization in the management of the body (DPR 285/1990) and finally the experience of nurses and support for the family in mourning, between rituality and empathic presence.
