This thesis was developed at Ca.Box Srl, a small-to-medium-sized enterprise operating in the electrical sector, specializing in the assembly of electrical panels and wiring systems for industrial and railway applications. The first part of the work provides a theoretical framework on inventory management models and the principles of continuous improvement, with a focus on Lean Manufacturing tools applicable to SMEs. Subsequently, an analysis of the company’s warehouse management was conducted with the goal of improving operational efficiency. A Pareto analysis was applied to identify class AA items, which account for the highest economic impact. For these items, key inventory performance indicators were calculated and analyzed: Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), safety stock (SS), inventory turnover, and coverage ratio. The analysis enabled a proper sizing of safety stocks, resulting in a significant reduction in the average inventory value without compromising the service level.
L’elaborato è stato sviluppato presso Ca.Box Srl, una piccola-media impresa attiva nel settore elettrico, specializzata nell’assemblaggio di quadri elettrici e cablaggi destinati ai comparti industriale e ferroviario. La prima parte della tesi è dedicata all’inquadramento teorico dei modelli di gestione delle scorte e ai principi del miglioramento continuo, con un focus sugli strumenti della Lean Manufacturing applicabili a contesti di piccola-media impresa. Successivamente, è stata condotta un’analisi della gestione del magazzino aziendale con l’obiettivo di migliorarne l’efficienza. In particolare, è stata applicata l’analisi di Pareto per identificare i codici appartenenti alla classe AA, ossia quelli a maggiore incidenza economica. Per tali codici sono stati calcolati e analizzati i principali parametri gestionali: Economic Order Quantity (EOQ), scorta di sicurezza (SS), indice di rotazione e indice di copertura. L’analisi ha permesso di dimensionare correttamente i livelli di scorta, ottenendo una riduzione significativa del valore medio di giacenza a magazzino, senza compromettere il livello di servizio.
