Anxiety represents a problem for many people, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, and culture. When anxiety becomes excessive and persistent, it can turn into a real pathological condition. Since a cure for it has not been found in those who suffer from it, medications and methods are now used to alleviate both the psychological and physiological symptoms. Among the methods aimed at controlling and/or reducing anxiety, physical activity is included, too, especially when performed in natural environment (Green Exercise). This thesis aims to analyze and compare some scientific articles regarding the effects of Green Exercise on anxiety and mood, to identify potential differences that physical activity’s methods (type of physical activity in natural environment, changes in duration and intensity of exercise) conducted in natural environment have on reducing anxiety and improving mood. Comparing the selected studies, it was found that there were greater benefits in both mood and perceived state anxiety of the participants at the end of the Green Walking sessions, compared to the results obtained at the end of urban walks or daily life activities. This attributes to this type of physical activity the possibility of being a valid tool for the prevention and promotion of psychological and physical well-being and for the management of an adequate lifestyle.
