The aim of this thesis is to analyze the effects of organizational structure and club identity on basketball players, with particular attention to the psychological and motivational factors that influence their sporting experience. A sports club is not only an administrative organization but also a vital context for the personal and professional growth of athletes. Players’ mindset, team cohesion, and commitment during training and competition can be significantly shaped by organizational culture, shared values, and the leadership style adopted. This work is a literature-based thesis and examines five original scientific articles selected from journals indexed in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. These studies investigate the relationships between organization, identity, and athletes’ attitudes in team sports, with a particular focus on basketball. The contributions are critically analyzed in the central chapter, with attention to both methodological similarities and differences. In addition to the literature review, an exploratory study was conducted on two high-level basketball clubs, involving first-team players through the administration of a structured questionnaire. The instrument assessed perceived organizational quality, club identity, perceived leadership, cohesion, and motivation. Data were analyzed descriptively and comparatively in order to highlight the role of the sports club in shaping athletes’ mentality. The results, discussed in light of the scientific literature, suggest that a clear organizational structure and a shared club identity foster players’ motivation and well-being, contributing to improved individual and team performance. This research confirms the importance of considering sports organizations as educational and motivational agents, as well as technical ones.
L'elaborato è compilativo e prende in considerazione cinque articoli scientifici originali da riviste indicizzate in Scopus, PubMed e Web of Science.
