Bootstrapping Word Order in Prelexical Infants: 6–12-month-old Persian- and Turkish-exposed babies

According to previous research, the onset of learning the order of function and content words is a fundamental aspect of grammar that varies considerably across languages. Infants begin to recognize function words in their native language around 6 to 8 months of age, and this process starts with the most frequent words. Studies supporting this hypothesis have been conducted in English, Italian, and Spanish, and we aim to extend this research by conducting an online study with 6- to 12-month-old infants who are exposed to Persian or Turkish.
