The spread of mass technology has allowed a large portion of the population to independently access the web, facilitating the exchange of information. However the tools that provide access to this information, such as social media, are still insufficiently regulated, allowing external actors to intrude and influence the information space of other populations. Furthermore, these external actors abuse the cognitive biases and emotional characteristics of other populations with the objective of creating conflict within the population itself. This thesis aims to describe these mechanisms and will demonstrate visualization techniques for tracking the diffusion of information on social networks.

Abstract
The spread of mass technology has allowed a large portion of the population to independently access the web, facilitating the exchange of information. However the tools that provide access to this information, such as social media, are still insufficiently regulated, allowing external actors to intrude and influence the information space of other populations. Furthermore, these external actors abuse the cognitive biases and emotional characteristics of other populations with the objective of creating conflict within the population itself. This thesis aims to describe these mechanisms and will demonstrate visualization techniques for tracking the diffusion of information on social networks.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
