This thesis examines the history and development of attachment theory, with particular attention to its intersection with the concept of repetition compulsion. The aim is to investigate how these dynamics influence individuals’ relational choices, often leading them to establish romantic relationships with partners who mirror previously experienced relational patterns. Through a review of the literature and an analysis of major theoretical and clinical contributions, the study highlights how attachment and the tendency toward repetition can shape the construction of intimate relationships characterized by the reiteration of specific patterns, with significant implications at both the psychological and therapeutic levels.

Abstract
This thesis examines the history and development of attachment theory, with particular attention to its intersection with the concept of repetition compulsion. The aim is to investigate how these dynamics influence individuals’ relational choices, often leading them to establish romantic relationships with partners who mirror previously experienced relational patterns. Through a review of the literature and an analysis of major theoretical and clinical contributions, the study highlights how attachment and the tendency toward repetition can shape the construction of intimate relationships characterized by the reiteration of specific patterns, with significant implications at both the psychological and therapeutic levels.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
