The thesis aims to analyse the process through which mourning, particularly maternal mourning, evolves from a private and domestic sphere to a collective and political dimension. The starting point concerns the historical relegation of women to caregiving roles and emotional subjects, a perception that has weakened their rational and political action. Through the case study of the Madres de Plaza de Mayo, the thesis aims to demonstrate how this position has instead been used as a subversive measure against the Argentine dictatorial regime, making visible those who had no voice. The research focuses in particular on the analysis of various types of sources, including contemporary art, through the installations of Christian Boltanski, and the testimonies of Vera Jarach and Hebe de Bonafini. The research objectives include understanding the evolution of the movement in the present, analysing the political theories of mourning applied to the case of the desaparecidos, and studying the artistic and narrative representations that link memory, dictatorship and immigration.

Abstract
The research objectives include understanding the evolution of the movement in the present, analysing the political theories of mourning applied to the case of the desaparecidos, and studying the artistic and narrative representations that link memory, dictatorship and immigration.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
