The topic of the thesis focuses on travel as a process capable of shaping personal identity and as a formative experience. The thesis is structured into four chapters. The first chapter traces the history of travel, exploring how it originated and what it consists of. It focuses on the figure of the traveler as a subject in continuous transformation, capable of building their own identity through encounters with otherness. Furthermore, a distinction is made between tourist travel and educational travel, the latter being considered an opportunity for personal, cultural, and emotional growth. The second chapter examines the relationship between travel and school, paying particular attention to the role of emotions in the educational process, which are recognized as an essential element for authentic and meaningful learning. The third chapter concentrates on the Erasmus+ programme, with a focus on respect for diversity, the valorization of vulnerability, and the need to adopt strategies aimed at ensuring equal educational opportunities for all, including those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. Finally, the fourth chapter addresses the theme of disability, focusing on issues of accessibility and the obstacles that may hinder participation. Overall, the thesis aims to promote a vision of travel as an inclusive, accessible, and transformative space for everyone, capable of generating identity, awareness, and active citizenship.
