This work analyzes the relationship between technology and human experience, adopting Marshall McLuhan's media theory as its preferred lens of investigation. Through a critical comparison between media phenomenology and pragmatism—with particular reference to Dewey's aesthetics and Peirce's semiotics—the research examines the nature of the human-technology relationship in the contemporary era of generative AI. The aim is to update the paradigm “the medium is the message” in the contemporary digital landscape and use it to reflect on the conceptual and aesthetic transformations brought about by systems that automate creative and intelligent processes. The paper highlights how the risk of a numbing of experience, resulting from the reduction of friction in creative effort and enjoyment, can be counterbalanced by the opening up of new artistic opportunities. Finally, the last chapter focuses on the field of music, and specifically on jazz improvisation, to analyze the impact of generative AI on aesthetic experience and creativity.

Abstract
Finally, the last chapter focuses on the field of music, and specifically on jazz improvisation, to analyze the impact of generative AI on aesthetic experience and creativity.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
