EDUCATION THROUGH IMAGE AND STAGE PHOTOGRAPHY Pedagogy is the Theory of Education while Education is the educational practice that feeds the Theory. In particular, this thesis will discuss the theatre education, specifically education through puppetry. I will combine my passion for art, theater, and photography to explore how they interact with each other and what they can bring to pedagogy and education. This thesis focuses on the pedagogical aspect of images as representation, the basis for all learning and therefore for every developmental path. In this thesis, the practice of writing through photographic and pictorial images that defines a community is explained and narrated with Giuliano Scabia and his book, Marco Cavallo through Images. The topic is explored through a commentary on images and education, starting with a specific aspect of theater: puppet theater with puppets and marionettes. Discovering how these non-human artefacts help give voice to people’s profound experiences and how these experiences are shared with community. Experience in the educational field were also included, recalling strengths and weakness in the pedagogical field. The experience of a tourist entertainer was not that of an educator, and therefore the role had not yet matured; therefore, there was no awareness of undertaking educational work. In the hope of bringing the experience to a more scientific level, it is analyzed and transcribed in the thesis. Whenever we manipulate an image, we must be aware that we can convey a message. TITOLO DELLA TESI IN ITALIANO: L’EDUCAZIONE ATTRAVERSO L’IMMAGINE E LA FOTO IN SCENA. La Pedagogia è la Teoria sull’Educazione mentre l’Educazione è la pratica educativa che va ad alimentare la Teoria. L’Educazione di cui si parlerà in questa tesi è quella del Teatro in particolare l’Educazione attraverso il Teatro di Figura. La passione per l’arte sarà unita a quella per il Teatro e per la Fotografia in modo da scoprire come possono interagire fra loro e cosa possono dire rispetto alla Pedagogia e all’Educazione. Nella tesi ci si soffermerà sugli aspetti pedagogici dell’immagine come rappresentazione, base per ogni apprendimento e quindi di ogni percorso evolutivo. Nella tesi la pratica di scrittura per immagini fotografica e pittorica che definisce una comunità viene spiegata e raccontata con Giuliano Scabia e il suo libro intitolato: Marco Cavallo per immagini. In esso si approfondisce l’argomento attraverso il commento alle immagini con il loro potenziale educativo a partire da un aspetto particolare del teatro, quello del Teatro di Figura con Burattini e Marionette. Scoprendo come questi manufatti non umani contribuiscano a dare voce al vissuto profondo delle persone e come questo vissuto sia condiviso dalla comunità. Sono state inserite anche esperienze fatte in ambito educativo, ripercorrendo con la memoria pregi e mancanze in ambito pedagogico. L’esperienza di animatrice turistica non era quella dell’educatrice e quindi il ruolo non era ancora maturato; quindi, non vi era coscienza di affrontare un lavoro educativo. Nella speranza di portare l’esperienza ad un livello più scientifico questa attività viene analizzata e trascritta nella Tesi. Ogni volta che si manipola un’immagine si deve essere consapevoli che si sta veicolando un messaggio. Alla fine dell’elaborato viene per questo motivo proposta un’Immagine educativa creata attraverso l’uso del computer. Con la Tesi si dimostrerà che il teatro e in particolare Il Teatro di Figura non è affatto un semplice intrattenimento e può incidere profondamente nell’educazione umana. Lo studio dei casi analizzati ha portato all’ideazione di un’immagine inventata, attraverso la tecnica del collage, creata al computer, coinvolgendo la marionetta senza fili di Topo Gigio per trasformarla in un’immagine educativa.
