This paper analyzes the implications of parental anxiety and parenting styles on children's emotional and academic development. Through a literature review, parenting models, maternal anxiety, and math anxiety are examined. The findings highlight how hypercontrolling behaviors, which may be enacted by parents, can negatively impact children's autonomy and achievement. The role of the family environment and the family-school relationship is also emphasized. Finally, a study from a Japanese educational context is analyzed, in which building trust between parents and teachers helps reduce anxiety and teacher control. This study has been used as a possible way to promote emotional rebalancing in parents through building trust.
