This paper aims to investigate the developmental risks associated with early motherhood, understood as the experience of becoming a mother during the transition from adolescence to adulthood, with particular attention to the impact on the young mother's identity development and the child's developmental trajectory. It has been examined how the event of motherhood, when placed in a developmental phase characterized by identity incompleteness and emotional-relational instability, determines a peculiar condition of simultaneity between distinct and potentially contrasting evolutionary tasks. This condition is analyzed and described in its implications for the mother's emotional and parental functioning, the quality of the dyadic relationship, and the child's affective, cognitive, and relational development. The topic is treated according to a theoretical-scientific approach integrated with the clinical analysis of a mother-child dyad observed in the context of an internship at a mother-child community. The description of the case allowed us to empirically illustrate, through the intertwining of evolutionary history, psychological profiles and dyadic relational dynamics, the critical issues described in the literature. The paper concludes with a critical reflection on the role of the psychologist in such contexts, placing the clinical evidence provided by the research in dialogue with what has been observed in clinical reality.

Abstract
The paper concludes with a critical reflection on the role of the psychologist in such contexts, placing the clinical evidence provided by the research in dialogue with what has been observed in clinical reality.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
