This paper aims to analyze the psychological causes and social consequences triggered by current projections of the demographic change occurring in most Western countries. Specifically, it explores the distorted perception of the transition toward a "majority-minority" society and the significant dynamics triggered by this prospect, which arouses a profound sense of status threat within the dominant group. Through an analysis of psychosocial literature, the investigation defines the cognitive mechanisms underlying this phenomenon, describing prejudice as a defensive reaction. Subsequently, the paper focuses on the concrete implications of this sense of threat, highlighting how it induces majority members to adopt more conservative political stances, increase racial biases, and experience negative outcomes for their physical and mental health. Furthermore, the study examines the factors that moderate these reactions, with particular attention to the role of meta-perception and the impact of political communication strategies. Finally, the thesis addresses the effectiveness of public integration interventions, demonstrating how the adoption of inclusive regulations is crucial for mitigating the sense of threat, normalizing diversity, and fostering intergroup cohesion.

Abstract
Finally, the thesis addresses the effectiveness of public integration interventions, demonstrating how the adoption of inclusive regulations is crucial for mitigating the sense of threat, normalizing diversity, and fostering intergroup cohesion.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
