This thesis analyzes the main aspects of mare reproductive management, focusing on the physiological and management processes that characterize the mare's reproductive cycle. The aim is to provide an overview of the phases, from the estrous cycle to fertilization, through pregnancy and foaling, highlighting the factors that influence reproductive efficiency in equine breeding. The first part describes the main elements of equine reproductive physiology, with particular attention to the mare's estrous cycle, hormonal regulation, and the anatomical characteristics of the reproductive system. Subsequently, the methods of fertilization are analyzed, both through natural mating and artificial insemination, highlighting the importance of diagnostic techniques and ultrasound monitoring to improve reproductive success. A significant portion of the thesis is dedicated to mare management during gestation, considering aspects related to animal welfare, nutrition, and fetal development monitoring. The main prepartum signs and the environmental and management conditions necessary to adequately prepare for foaling are also described. In the end, the stages of foaling are analyzed and the main practices for assisting the foal during birth and neonatal care. In summary, the thesis emphasizes how proper integration of physiological knowledge, farm management, and monitoring techniques is essential to ensure the reproductive success and well-being of both mare and foal.
