This thesis investigates affective and sexual education practices directed at individuals with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities, within a context where international normative recognition of their rights has yet to be consistently translated into concrete implementation across socio-educational settings. Through a review of the existing literature, the study identifies the stereotypes, structural barriers, and training gaps that continue to hinder the exercise of these rights. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, drawing on semi-structured interviews, and is structured around two complementary case contexts: Vite Vere Down DADI, a social cooperative based in Padua, examined as a case study for its structured affective and sexual education practices, and CoorDown (National Coordination of Associations of People with Down Syndrome) with particular focus on its educator training programme. The findings highlight how cultural barriers, family resistance, and insufficient professional training among practitioners represent the most recurrent challenges, and how the sharing of practices, tools, and methodologies across different local contexts constitutes a possible response to these difficulties. The thesis aims to contribute to the broader reflection on the conditions required for affective and sexual education to become an integral part of the adult life project of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Abstract
The thesis aims to contribute to the broader reflection on the conditions required for affective and sexual education to become an integral part of the adult life project of individuals with intellectual disabilities.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
