This paper analyzes the central role of the body in the construction of personal and social identity, highlighting how, in recent years, it has become an object to be shaped and perfected. In this process, traditional and digital media contribute significantly to the spread of often unrealistic aesthetic ideals, influencing especially young adults. These dynamics are connected to the development of Eating Disorders (EDs), which are considered phenomena arising from multiple causes, including psychological, social, and cultural factors. In recent years, such disorders have no longer affected only women, but also men, who are increasingly exposed to models based on strength and muscularity. Within this context emerges vigorexia, or muscle dysmorphia, characterized by a distorted perception of one’s body and by compulsive behaviors closely related to training and nutrition. The thesis aims to understand whether individuals who train frequently are able to distinguish between a healthy relationship with their bodies and dysfunctional practices. The work is structured in a first theoretical part, devoted to Eating Disorders, the role of the media, and the analysis of vigorexia, and a second empirical part, aimed at exploring the perceptions of the interviewees regarding the boundary between well-being and risk.
In tale processo,i media tradizionali e digitali contribuiscono in maniera significativa a diffondere ideali estetici spesso irrealistici, influenzando sopratutto i giovani adulti.

Abstract
The work is structured in a first theoretical part, devoted to Eating Disorders, the role of the media, and the analysis of vigorexia, and a second empirical part, aimed at exploring the perceptions of the interviewees regarding the boundary between well-being and risk.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
