This thesis analyses the role of digital storytelling in shaping the brand identity of Italian niche companies operating in the outdoor sector, with particular attention to the relationship between authenticity, territorial embeddedness, and digital communication. In a context where consumption increasingly takes on symbolic and experiential dimensions, these companies are required to enhance their technical and manufacturing know-how through narrative strategies capable of strengthening their competitive positioning and their dialogue with reference communities. The aim of the research is to investigate the gap between the identity resources possessed by the analysed companies and their ability to translate them into effective digital communication, through a comparison with international benchmarks in the outdoor sector. To this end, a qualitative methodology was adopted based on a comparative analysis of the Italian brands Northwave and Sportful and the global brands Burton and Rapha. The study examines the main digital touchpoints – Instagram, YouTube, and the corporate website – using as a theoretical framework contributions from brand identity, digital storytelling, and engagement dynamics. The findings show that the analysed companies possess a strong identity grounded in technical quality, authenticity, and territorial connection, but struggle to translate these elements into a fully integrated, participatory, and coherent digital narrative across different channels. The analysis is further enriched by a semi-structured interview with an industry professional, used as a qualitative deepening to contextualise the findings and provide an internal perspective on the communication strategies adopted.

Abstract
The analysis is further enriched by a semi-structured interview with an industry professional, used as a qualitative deepening to contextualise the findings and provide an internal perspective on the communication strategies adopted.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
