Law enforcement officers operate daily in environments characterized by high emotional intensity and highly stressful conditions, facing dangerous situations, organizational pressures, and social expectations. This research, conducted from a psychosocial perspective, focuses on the study of work-related stress, burnout, and suicide risk affecting security personnel, with the aim of exploring the individual, social, and systemic dynamics responsible for psychological distress in this professional field. The first chapter presents a theoretical analysis of the concepts of stress, burnout, and coping strategies, with particular attention to the individual and situational factors that modulate stress responses. The second chapter focuses on the specific features of the law enforcement work environment, distinguishing between operational and organizational stressors. It also examines gender and professional role differences, the effects of chronic stress on psychophysical health, and the connection with disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and suicide risk. The third chapter adopts a psychosocial perspective to investigate the influence of gender stereotypes, cultural expectations, and lack of social support. To this end, it proposes targeted intervention initiatives, including training activities, preventive programs, and actions aimed at promoting psychological well-being. The main objective of this study is to develop a critical reflection on a highly relevant and urgent issue, by analyzing stress, burnout, and suicide risk in law enforcement through a psychosocial lens. The analysis highlights the role of cultural, social, and organizational factors in generating or exacerbating psychological distress, with the intent to foster greater awareness of the issue and promote the spread of a culture based on well-being and prevention within the professional and institutional context.
