This bibliographic thesis examines the role of the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) in spatial attention through a critical review of studies using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in healthy participants. Following an overview of spatial neglect and the major attentional networks, the thesis introduces TMS as a method for causal investigation and evaluates the experimental evidence on PPC function. The analysis focuses on the effects of parietal stimulation on attentional orienting, visuospatial biases, hemispheric asymmetries, different spatial domains, and the neural representation of space. The aim is to assess the extent to which TMS findings have advanced our understanding of the causal contribution of the PPC to spatial attention and to consider their implications for models of clinical neglect.
