This paper aims to investigate how aesthetic taste evolves throughout human development, ranging from the early perceptual preferences of childhood to the aesthetic sensibilities of adulthood. The work is organized into three chapters: the first addresses the philosophical and psychological foundations of aesthetic taste, reviewing the contributions of thinkers such as Hume, Kant, Arnheim, and Bourdieu. The second chapter analyzes the transformations of taste across various developmental stages—from childhood and adolescence through to adulthood. The third chapter explores the relationship between aesthetic taste and psychopathology, focusing specifically on disorders characterized by an altered aesthetic sense. The central theme of the paper is the link between aesthetic taste and identity: aesthetic preferences are not merely a matter of what we like, but a tool through which we construct and recognize ourselves throughout our lives.

Il presente elaborato si propone di indagare come il gusto estetico si trasformi nel corso dello sviluppo umano, a partire dalle prime preferenze percettive dell'infanzia fino alle elaborazioni estetiche dell'età adulta. Il lavoro si articola in tre capitoli; Il primo affronta i fondamenti filosofici e psicologici del gusto estetico, ripercorrendo il contributo di autori come Hume, Kant, Arnheim e Bourdieu. Il secondo analizza le trasformazioni del gusto nelle diverse fasi dello sviluppo, dall'infanzia all'adolescenza fino all'età adulta. Il terzo capitolo esplora il rapporto tra gusto estetico e psicopatologia, con particolare attenzione ai disturbi in cui il senso estetico risulta alterato. Il filo conduttore dell'elaborato è il legame tra gusto estetico e identità: le preferenze estetiche non sono solo ciò che preferiamo, ma uno strumento attraverso cui costruiamo e riconosciamo noi stessi nel corso della vita.
