This bibliographic thesis aims to analyze the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder. The first chapter provides an overview of Major Depressive Disorder and the main cognitive processes involved in the maintenance and worsening of symptoms, such as rumination, feelings of helplessness, and the presence of dysfunctional beliefs. The second chapter defines the construct of mindfulness by outlining its origins and main theoretical components, before describing the principal mindfulness-based interventions, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. The final chapter examines the scientific evidence regarding the effectiveness of mindfulness-based interventions in the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder, focusing on the main benefits reported in the literature.
