This thesis analyzes the role of emotions in the processes of growth, learning and formation of the person, highlighting how the emotional dimension constitutes a fundamental element of human development and social relationships. After deepening the meaning of emotions and the main dynamics of emotional development, the relationship between emotions and education is examined, underlining the need to integrate emotional education into school paths. Subsequently, the historical evolution of pedagogical thought is retraced through the contribution of Vittorino da Feltre, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi and Maria Montessori, highlighting how each one recognized the importance of affective care, character formation and educational relationships. Finally, in the last part the concept of emotional intelligence is deepened, with particular reference to the studies of Daniel Goleman, highlighting the fundamental components, such as: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills. The thesis concludes by emphasizing that the contemporary school cannot be limited to the sole transmission of knowledge, but must also promote the development of emotional skills that are indispensable for individual well-being, the quality of relationships and responsible participation in social life.
