This thesis examines the role of pretend play in child development through the analysis of experimental studies, with particular attention to its potential contribution to the promotion of emotional development in children aged between 2 and 5 years. It then explores the relationship between pretend play and media education, considering audiovisual language as an educational tool capable of supporting learning processes. Finally, the educational potential of the animated film "Inside Out" is analysed as an audiovisual resource that can be used in educational settings to foster children's understanding and recognition of different emotions, support the development of emotional self-regulation, and promote greater social competence.
