The symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity, typical of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), are often linked to significant difficulties in emotional competence and reactivity. However, there are still few studies in the literature that have examined these aspects in detail in samples of children and pre-adolescents. The present study therefore aims to assess the impact of ADHD traits on emotional competence – specifically flexibility and awareness – and on emotional reactivity following an episode of social exclusion, experimentally induced using the Cyberball Game paradigm. Finally, the relationship between self-reported emotional competence and reactivity will be explored. To investigate the constructs of interest, participants were asked to complete both questionnaires and computerised tests, designed specifically for this study. This paper will present the results and a discussion of them, concluding with an outline of the possible clinical and psychoeducational implications that may be useful for the design of preventive interventions and early emotional enhancement programmes.

Abstract
This paper will present the results and a discussion of them, concluding with an outline of the possible clinical and psychoeducational implications that may be useful for the design of preventive interventions and early emotional enhancement programmes.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
