This work consists in a paleomagnetic analysis on samples collected from a Triassic – Jurassic section of carbonatic platform limestones, outcropping along the road leading up to the summit of Mount Messapion (Chalkida), in the north-eastern part of Greece. The aim of this thesis is to find a magnetostratigraphic signal and to identify possible magnetozones around the T/J boundary. Samples have been analyzed at the Alpine Laboratory of Paleomagnetism in Peveragno (CN), in order to find the characteristic component of Natural Remanent Magnetization (NRM), by using a progressive thermal demagnetization. The following Principal Component Analysis allowed to recognize the original magnetic signal and to identify five possible magnetozones, three characterized by normal polarity (MES1n, MES2n, MES3n) and two by reversal one (MES1r, MES2r).

Abstract
The following Principal Component Analysis allowed to recognize the original magnetic signal and to identify five possible magnetozones, three characterized by normal polarity (MES1n, MES2n, MES3n) and two by reversal one (MES1r, MES2r).File | Dimensione | Formato | |
